Jaclyn Lerner, RD (pictured above), a community nutritionist at the Brigham’s Brookside Community Health Center in Jamaica Plain, leads patients and their guardians on grocery store tours to help them make informed decisions about their food purchases.
These tours, conducted in English and Spanish, provide valuable education on ingredient analysis, label reading, and understanding front-of-package information. Participants learn practical tips for shopping on a budget, including comparing unit prices, opting for store brands, and selecting frozen and canned produce. Thanks to a generous grant, participants receive a $75 grocery store gift card to reduce barriers to accessing nutritious foods.
